New fabric, old patterns

I think I said at the beginning of the year that I was not going to buy fabric this year. Well, I did buy a few new pieces today. I’m planning on making some summer dresses and needed some light, breezy fabric. So I went to JoAnns and found a few that I really liked. All are cotton or cotton blends.

I went through some old patterns that had been given to me by my mother-in-law. I found a few that I might like to try, although they all require alterations (to make them larger). These were before the days of multi size patterns. But I like the long skirt of the pattern in the middle (it’s for knits). And I think the yellow dress is an easy summer dress to make and wear.

  1. Those are always the "famous last words" (I'm not buying anymore fabric), you can only guess how many times I have said it too! Good luck with your dresses, can't wait to see them.

  2. I like the idea! I just bought a few vintage patterns from an estate sale and plan to do the same! Your fabric choices look wonderful and I can't wait to see your finsihed dresses!
