Shorts completed!

I finished my second pair of Colette Patterns “Iris” shorts the other day. These are so comfortable and easy to make. Also, this is the only shorts pattern that I didn’t have to alter in any way. In the pictures I paired this up with the McCall’s jacket (6172) I made a while back. I used the same material for the shorts so that I could have this shorts “suit”.

Now as the end of summer approaches, I need to think about what to sew for Fall. I’ve been looking through magazines to get some inspiration as well as looking through my own closet to see what’s needed. In the meantime, I plan to enjoy the beautiful weather we’ve been having as much as possible.

Happy sewing everyone!

White peplum

I made this a couple of weeks ago, just in time to take it on vacation with me. My husband and I went to Charleston, South Carolina and had a great time. It is a beautiful, old, historic city that my husband (an architect) particularly enjoyed for it’s buildings. I loved the time to relax!

Anyway, I made Vogue 8815 again. It’s so easy and quick to make. I used a white cotton that I bought at G Street Fabrics. I needed a white top to wear with different things and this fit the bill perfectly. I had previously made this in purple. I still recommend this pattern as a go-to for a quick, stylish top.

Easy summer dress

I finished McCall’s 5974 the other day. It’s a very easy to make, knit dress that should be great for travel or just a day out. This is a Palmer/Pletsch pattern so there’s a lot of information about getting the fit you want included in the pattern instructions. I made the basic View A which has short sleeves. This only took a couple of days to put together (which is pretty quick for me). I could have done it in a day if I had worked on it all day. I used a stretch jersey knit (one of the recommended fabrics) which meant that I did not need to include the zipper in the back. I can pull this dress over my head so that made it even easier to make. If I were to make this again I would make the V-neck next time and probably try a solid color.
