This is the first time that I’ve made a maxi dress. I see them (everywhere) and I like them, but I never bothered to make one myself – until now. This pattern is so easy! It only took a few hours to make. And I actually lined mine with tricot so it would hang better and not be clingy.
I also made the shorter jacket (View A) from a piece of cotton interlock knit I had on hand.
Since the dress is sleeveless, having something to keep warm indoors when the A/C is too high is crucial.
This is very easy to make and great to wear day or night. It’s something I can see myself making again, although I don’t think I would line the next one if it’s not really necessary. I think the lining has made the dress heavier than it would be otherwise. But, the lining has made the dress hang well, which I really like.
I love this pattern, it so easy to create and stitch up. I just found some knit to stitch up of the cardi. You look great.
Lovely maxi.
Thank you!
Thanks!
Love the colors!
What a great looking ensemble that can go from casual with flip flops to night time and heels. The bolero really dresses it up perfectly. Beautiful!
Thanks! I've gone easy care with my hair and it's great!
Great idea to line with tricot! Mine can be clingy and show my lumps and bumps.
I *love* your hair!
Thanks Claire! I've had this fabric since last year (I think), but I believe I got it at JoAnn Fabrics.
Love the dress and the happy fabric! Where did you get the fabric?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Thanks Robin!
This is beautiful and I especially like it with the shrug. It's amazing at how much sewing you do! I enjoy looking at them all – thanks for sharing!
Hmmmmmm. My comment flew off somewhere! I really LOVE this. It is gorgeous ON YOU! I actually made a dress like that last year. I need to pull it out of its hiding place in my closet.
Hugs, Joy
This looks great on you – I haven't embraced maxi yet but it looks so nice on you.
Love everything about your dress. It fits you quite nicely. The colors are so pretty and cheerful. Love the little jacket you made for it. Perfect! You look gorgeous.
I love that fabric. I never thought of lining a maxi-dress, especially a knit, but it makes sense. Thanks for the tip.
