My End Of Summer Wrap Up

My end of summer wrap up post is something I like to do. It always helps me to see what I actually made, versus what I think I made. It’s a nice way to look back for me and a way to get some inspiration for you (I hope). Some of you may be going into summer as we here are going into fall/autumn. So no matter where you are, you may find some projects you might want to try.

The Caftan Dress

McCalls 6552 red and white dress

This dress is made from a viscose lawn fabric that I got from Minerva Fabrics. It’s lightweight and breezy, perfect for a caftan. I did shorten the length and raise the neckline of McCall’s 6552. The pattern is a Fashion Star pattern from McCall’s (remember that show?). That was one of the few reality shows that I really watched and enjoyed.

Two Piece Linen Set

Another summer project was the two piece linen set I made using Simplicity 9270. This is one of those projects that has become a favorite. It’s very comfortable and easy to wear. I can wear it for different occasions as well, so that makes it versatile.

Here’s the blog post I wrote that will give you some more details on how that project was to sew. Currently, I’m working on another set made from gold linen with a 3/4 sleeve. That one will be perfect for fall.

Jeans

Some people enjoy tailoring. I enjoy making jeans. There’s a lot that goes into the process. Since fitting is time consuming, once you’ve done it, just use that pattern multiple times. You can alter a pattern to get many different looks.

I used the Angela Wolf skinny jeans pattern that I had altered for this. The fabric is gray pinstripe stretch suiting from Minerva Fabrics. I’m very happy with the end results on these.

Floral Cardigan

My last project was something I just finished a couple of weeks ago. It’s a floral cardigan made with Minerva Fabrics. Since I’m a Minerva brand ambassador, this is one of those projects. Viscose jersey is a great fabric if you want a lighter weight cardigan.

I used the Love Notions Boyfriend Cardigan pattern which I’ve made several times. Here’s the link to the post I wrote on the Minerva website.

Conclusion

So that’s it. I didn’t do as much as I thought, but I did what I needed. I’m currently sewing some fall clothes that I can really use. I want to make more outfits and pieces that I can really put together for outfits.
