I completed another garment this morning. It’s BurdaStyle 09-2010-#121 turtleneck. It helps that there’s only three pieces to the pattern, so it’s hard to screw up. I made this from some black cotton interlock I bought at G Street Fabrics. It is so soft and washes well. I’ll review the patterns I’ve completed recently over on patternreview.com when I get a chance. But this turtleneck is great. I want more fabric so I can make more of these. It only took a couple of hours (including tracing the pattern).

(Gaping) Holes in my wardrobe
Last week my husband and I went to a cocktail/dinner party. While trying to get ready and figure out what to wear, I realized that I have some gaping holes in my wardrobe. Fortunately this past spring I had made my first (and only) LBD. It’s made in a linen-like fabric and was perfect to wear for a warm evening out. But that’s pretty much all I have to wear for a nice evening out. I convinced myself that I didn’t need nice clothes since I’m a SAHM. But I don’t live in a cave and it’s not like I never go out. I have nice clothes, but nothing really dressy. So now I have a clearer focus on what I should be sewing. After I finish the blazer (actually, after I start the blazer), I’ll plan to work on some dress patterns that I have. I’ve even bought fabric, etc. for many of them. And it would be helpful to have some jackets/shrugs to wear with some of the dresses since I sometimes get too hot with long sleeves, but would like something to cover my arms when it’s cold indoors. This is a picture of the dress I wore. I added a sparkly belt to give it a little “umph.”
Finished B5420 top
I finished this top last night. I like the style with the mock wrap to the side. It’s one of those things that’s easy to wear with jeans or dressed up with a skirt. My kind of top. I like things that I can wear on multiple occasions. I might do this in a print at some point, just to make it a little more interesting. And maybe next time I ‘ll make it with long sleeves. I used a cotton knit I had because I really am trying to use up some of the stash I have. I know I’ve said that before, but maybe if I keep saying it, it will actually happen. I cleaned up my sewing area earlier this week and I have another bin with fabric. That makes about 7 bins of varying sizes with fabric. So, I need to work through what I’ve got.
