I completed this Hot Patterns Mr. & Mrs. H.P. Weekender Breton T. Wow, that’s quite a name, but it took me almost as long to type that as it did to make (sort of). It’s a very easy, quick pattern to make. If you love a good T shirt, this may be the pattern for you. I love it. The fit is great without being too tight or too lose. For women, it does have a 3/4 sleeve but I lengthened mine by 4″ to make it long-sleeve. The men’s version is long sleeve. The material is just a cotton interlock knit. The body is actually a reversible fabric. I was going to make this reversible, but I couldn’t quite get the serger flat lock stitch the way I wanted. So, instead of stressing myself out, I just made it with the stripes outside and the dots inside.
Completed a T-shirt…more to come
The fabric is really soft and warm which is great considering the weather we’ve had. The sleeves are just a solid cotton interlock.
I didn’t add any length to the bottom of the shirt, so this is the original length. But it’s a great pattern – easy and practical to have in the wardrobe. I already have another in a dark green solid cut out to make today or tomorrow.
I hope the above reply helps! It is pretty tricky and not completely explained in the directions.
This is tricky and I don't have it in front of me right now, but the front piece (which should already have the binding attached) goes under the binding for the back. Then they are sewn together. It took me a while to figure this out. Unfortunately, HP doesn't have a tutorial for this because it's supposed to be so "easy". It actually is, but it does take some getting used to. I basted the pieces together first just to make sure it would come out right. That's how I was able to figure out what to do.
Thank you!
Hello! I'm fairly new to sewing, and am making this shirt. I'm not quite sure how to sew the front to the back with the binding at the shoulders. I can't figure out how to place the pieces – in what order, etc. Would you mind explaining a bit? Yours looks perfect!
Hi Denise! I'm a beginner, and am attempting this shirt. I'm stuck at the part where you join the front to the back with the back binding. I don't understand how it goes together. Would you mind explaining that a bit? Yours looks perfect! Thanks for any help.
I'm in a t-shirt state of mind too. I think I am dreaming of a time when this winter is finally gone. I love your t-shirt. And thanks for the tip on a good t-shirt pattern.
Thanks!
Thanks Robin!
Thanks. Honestly, I didn't have enough fabric for the sleeves in the print. That's why they're solid. But it turned out well!
Love the shirt and the color. I also like the solid color sleeves. I like long tees–they're so forgiving. Great work!
I love that. Cute, simple, warm and cozy. Oh yeah and great color too!
Love your new tshirt.. I like that you did the sleeves solid.. So cute.. I also like the fit..Will have to check this pattern out. Happy sewing.
