Completed first project!

I finished V1275. It’s a Today’s Fit long-sleeve T-shirt with ruching in the front panel. It was very easy and I really like it! I used a stretch jersey knit in an “Aztec” print that I bought from fabric.com a while back. I’m really focusing on trying to get my abundance of fabric under control. I found the fit to be really great as well. If your familiar with these patterns, the sizing is a little different, but for me it was very accurate. I made no adjustments to the pattern. I’m not sure how this would be in a solid, but I may give it a try at some point. Although I did my best to get the stripes lined up (and I think I did a pretty good job), next time I would use a print that didn’t require matching. but, I am very happy with it and it’s really comfortable. And as far as the ruching is concerned, I had never done it before, but found it to be much easier than I initially expected.

Organization & first project under way!

Last time I posted about how I needed to get my sewing area organized. I’m still working on that, but I have added some elements that are making that easier. My DH put a peg board on the wall for me so I’ll be able to get things off the desk and onto the wall. I also added a thread holder for my serger thread that I put on the wall so I can actually see the thread I have. As for my first project, I’m working on Vogue 1275. It’s a Today’s fit T-shirt. I am really determined to use as much of the stash of fabric I have this year as I can. Quite honestly, I’m running out of storage space for the fabric, so I need to use what I’ve got! This is supposed to be something easy to put together, so we’ll see how it goes.

Happy New Year! It’s time to get organized…

I haven’t blogged much lately. I’ve been busy with other things, but I want to wish you all a happy, joyous, and prosperous new year! As for me, I have been rethinking my sewing area since I read an article in Threads magazine (March 2012) about sewing spaces. I sew in a section of my partially finished basement. The space I have is great, but could be better organized. I also think it may help me to spend less if I can actually see what I already have so I don’t end up with duplicates. I would like to get the serger thread on the wall somehow so that I can free up space for all the additional patterns I’ve bought ;). This year I really will put more effort into using the fabric stash I already have (I’m running out of room). So, I’m off to finish up some projects from December, then on to better things! (I’m not showing you the basement since I’m too embarrassed).
